Through 19-21 October, the Icelandic capital Reykjavik played host to the 2023 Arctic Circle Assembly for the organisation’s tenth meeting. An international gathering attended by over 3,000+ participants from 70 countries, the Assembly is the biggest network of international dialogue and cooperation on the future of the Planet. The largest international gathering in the Arctic, the annual assembly takes place in Iceland, a destination prioritising cultural, social, and environmental sustainability. The Arctic Circle Assembly was hosted at Harpa Concert & Conference Hall, next to The Reykjavik EDITION hotel. A recent addition to the city’s event hosting capabilities, the hotel is perfectly situated next to HARPA with easy underground parking access. Bringing together foreign ministers, climate ministers, leaders of scientific institutions, environmental organisations, businesses and Indigenous communities, the assembly’s three-day programme featured over 700 speakers in over 200 sessions. The 2023 Arctic Circle Assembly put the international spotlight back on Iceland and on discussions focusing on climate change, clean energy, and the blue economy.
