Jeannie Lim, executive director of conventions, meetings and incentive travel at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau™ (SECB), has been elected to the role of board chair for the BestCities Global Alliance.
Lim will make her first appearance in her new position at the BestCities media breakfast during IMEX, 15 May. She will take over responsibility from Jonas Wilstrup of Copenhagen, who had served in the role for two years.
Lim will play a leading role in plans to grow the alliance, which currently represents 12 of the top convention bureaus across the globe. With over seven years’ experience at SECB, Lim brings a wealth of industry knowledge, understanding and leadership to the role.
The marketing alliance is preparing for its third annual BestCities Global Forum, in Bogotá this December, and working for a second year running on the Incredible Impacts Grant Programme in partnership with ICCA.
Lim will chair a board that is comprised of herself and senior representatives from the other eleven BestCities destinations: Berlin, Bogotá, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Dubai, Houston, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
On the prospect of taking up her new role, Lim said: “I am honored to take up the appointment of board chair on behalf of the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau.
“The BestCities Global Alliance has been instrumental in shaping important strategies and best practices on how partners can best evolve and transform, to keep up with shifting trends in the meetings industry and create impactful delegate experiences. Through its established network, the alliance has also profiled the strengths of its members to association meeting planners.
“We look forward to more meaningful exchanges at the Global Forum – a key platform for the alliance to engage decision-makers – later in Bogota this year.”
Paul Vallee, managing director of BestCities Global Alliance said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Jeannie Lim as our new board chair, taking over the position from Jonas Wilstrup. During his two years, Jonas was an excellent asset to our partnership and a real driving force for successful change in the organisation. We can’t thank him enough for his support and time during his tenure.”
