WORLD  – International association for incentives professionals Site’s International Foundation has published the third White Paper in its Incentives Move Business series.

When motivational events are impacted by challenges such as extreme weather, government or labour unrest, transportation disruption, medical emergencies, acts of terrorism or violence, the effects can be profound and the frequent reaction is to resort to legal action.

The Foundation’s White Paper Risk Assessment/Management for Incentive Events argues that mitigating risk is a vital consideration that should be addressed early in the programme planning stage.

“The White Paper emphasises that managing risk is important to all members of the supply chain, and is a key differentiator applied by customers when selecting suppliers,” said Site International Foundation President Jane Schuldt (pictured).

“Ensuring that proper risk assessment has been performed and appropriate risk management plans have been put in place at all levels is a new fact of life,” Schuldt added.

Some companies are budgeting for at least one disaster every decade, according to the report, which concludes this may not be enough.

Evaluating risk and planning how to manage it frequently plays a major role in whether a programme is acceptable to a client’s legal department. Suppliers who proactively plan for and address this challenge have a keen advantage in their service offering, the Foundation believes.
