ASIA – Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) launched its integrated Thailand Connect The World campaign at the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) in Melbourne last week, as it’s revealed Australia is the country’s sixth largest inbound market.
The campaign, according to TCEB’s president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, has been developed to further strengthen visitor numbers from Australia and the broader Oceania region by highlighting Thailand’s diverse MICE offering.
“During our last financial year, we welcomed over 900,000 business events travellers to our nation, a result which has contributed more than AUS$2.69bn (US$2.09bn) to the country’s economy,” he said. “Australia is our sixth largest inbound market with the number of business events travellers growing by 137% and visitor numbers from the wider Oceania region also increasing by 81%.
“As the government’s official flagship body for the business events sector, we have worked hard to entice, nurture and support inbound meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. The results achieved to date reaffirm that we are attuned with the demands of the competitive events industry, and with the introduction of our Thailand Connect The World campaign, we are confident that it will only continue to strengthen Thailand as the business events destination of choice,” he added.
This year, Thailand is expected to welcome 1,000,000 business events visitors.
