AUSTRALASIA – Tourism Fiji has appointed conference and event organiser, Sally Cooper, as Events and MICE Director for the national tourism body, which promotes the Melanesian island in the South Pacific Ocean.

In the new role, Cooper will organise and run the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE), a new international tourism industry event which is designed to promote and support Fiji’s continuously growing tourism industry.

The first FTE will take place at the new Sheraton Conference Centre in Denarau from 5 to 8 May 2014. Its focus will be to support and showcase local tourism operators, Fijian-made products and the unique Fijian culture to the world.

“It is the role of Tourism Fiji to provide a platform for our local industry to market itself to the world,” says CEO of Tourism Fiji, Rick Hamilton. “Our focus will be to more effectively engage the Australian and New Zealand markets and to attract quality long-haul buyers from Asia, UK, Europe and the US.”

Hamilton says Cooper has extensive experience and the initiative and creativity to effectively develop FTE as a successful annual event. “Sally enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry and has enormous contacts from the small operators to the big resorts. She is also highly regarded by the international tourism industry and will bring all her expertise to the FTE to ensure its success,” he adds.
