The United Kingdom and the United States are set to sign a groundbreaking technology agreement in the coming days, coinciding with President Donald Trump’s upcoming state visit to the UK.

The announcement was made by the British Embassy in Washington on Saturday.

Designed to strengthen collaboration between the two nations’ world-leading tech sectors each valued in the trillions of dollars the agreement aims to expand opportunities for businesses, investors, and consumers across both sides of the Atlantic.

While final details are still under negotiation, the partnership will focus on critical and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, telecommunications, and quantum computing.

“Cutting-edge technology such as AI and quantum computing will transform our lives,” said, UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall, who was appointed to the post on September 5. “This agreement is about shaping that future together with shared values, trusted standards, and an open, innovative approach.”

President Trump is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on Tuesday for a three-day state visit, his second during his presidency. He will be accompanied by a high-profile delegation of U.S. technology leaders, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

The agreement comes amid growing transatlantic momentum on AI policy and investment. Both countries have launched AI Action Plans in 2025, and U.S. based companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI are expanding their presence in London. Meanwhile, UK firms like DeepMind continue to scale their operations globally through partnerships with U.S. counterparts.

This landmark agreement is expected to set a new standard for international cooperation in frontier technologies and digital innovation.
