On 24 April 2024, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) unveiled a significant new campaign titled ‘Hong Kong Incentive Playbook: Up the Game for Your Team’ during a high-profile event at The Regent Hong Kong. This initiative introduces 100 innovative and authentic Hong Kong experiences for the incentive market. The event gathered 110 agents from various regions including Mainland China, Southeast Asia, South Korea, and India, providing them with an opportunity to explore Hong Kong’s varied incentive travel options first-hand. Dane Cheng, the executive director of HKTB highlighted the significant growth in the region’s M&I (Meeting and Incentive) sector: “Last year, Hong Kong welcomed over 1.3m MICE visitors, with the Meeting and Incentive (M&I) segment accounting for a staggering 65%.” Cheng added: “Building on this growth momentum, with the launch of the Hong Kong Incentive Playbook, we are taking it up a notch, inviting the incentive industry to experience Hong Kong like never before with the city’s newest, most authentic, and immersive incentive ideas. We are confident that Hong Kong will become the ultimate destination for incentive travel, offering unparalleled experiences for corporations to motivate and reward their teams, and create lasting memories in our city.” The playbook itself is organised around five central themes: Arts & Culture, Wellness & Nature, Neighbourhoods, Nightlife & Parties, and Hong Kong Signatures. It suggests a range of activities from engaging with the local art and cultural scene, creating traditional handicrafts, enjoying the vibrant nightlife, to exploring serene natural landscapes and historical neighbourhoods. This guide aims to assist travel planners create memorable itineraries. In addition to the playbook, HKTB has launched a dedicated campaign website and produced a series of themed short videos in both English and Chinese to enhance the reach and impact of their message. The campaign’s launch also coincided with HKTB’s largest-ever celebration and familiarisation trip for top agents from regions including Mainland China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, and India.
