The 3rd annual ‘This is Athens – City Festival’ invites visitors to celebrate the city’s cultural vitality, 1 May – 2 June 2024. Spanning all neighbourhoods, the festival kicks off with a picnic in Plato’s Academy Park, leading into a month packed with over 250 events. The full programme includes concerts, street parties, guided tours, sports, food and wine experiences, and cultural activities, reaching into every corner of the city. Mayor Haris Doukas says the festival is a comprehensive spring celebration of the city. “The third annual festival is expanding for the first time to all the neighbourhoods of the city. We would like to thank all the organisations that are collaborating to build this important celebration for Athens. We invite Athenians and visitors of all ages to take part.” Ioannis Georgizas, CEO of the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ADDMA), notes the innovative collaborations fuelling this festival: “This is Athens – City Festival 2024 is the result of ADDMA’s close and innovative collaboration with official bodies, organisations, and some of the most significant cultural and creative groups of the city.” Key events feature an urban picnic with live music, Mother’s Day celebrations at Kypseli Public Agora, a unique outdoor club at Koumoundourou Square, fairytales at Drakopoulou Square, the Piano City Festival, skateboarding contests, fashion shows, and traditional festivals, culminating in a grand party on Mount Lycabettus.
