Austria Center Vienna reopened its modernised Level -2 on 26 February to coincide with the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), Austria’s largest medical conference. The renovation follows ongoing upgrades to the venue’s entrance hall and Levels 0 and 1, all carried out while events continued.

Upgraded facilities and new digital features

The year-long refurbishment has transformed Level -2 with: Expansive LED displays on walls and columns for enhanced signage and branding. White acoustic panels replacing dark wood panelling in Halls D, G and K. High-quality oak plank flooring for a uniform look throughout. Removal of glass portals and raised ceilings, creating a more open, bright space.

Hall D now features a 60sqm permanently installed LED wall, the largest at Austria Center Vienna.

Enhanced flexibility for event organisers

The renovations aim to add greater adaptability to the space: Hall D can now be divided into three separate sections. Lounge areas feature mobile folding walls, allowing flexible use. Additional suspension points in halls expand options for event technology and stand design.

“This upgrade strengthens our ability to compete with top European congress centres,” said Susanne Baumann-Söllner, management board spokesperson. “Bookings already show how valuable this flexibility is to organisers.”

Improved access and networking areas

Level -2 can host up to 2,500 participants, with direct access via escalators, staircases and lifts. The nearby X1, X2 and X3 exhibition halls are just a few metres away.

New networking lounges feature natural daylight, seating areas and two large greened terraces connected to Lounges G and K, replacing old foyer cafés.
