The board of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) has agreed to extend its co-operation with Barcelona and Vienna.
It decided that after 2016 and 2019, the association’s 2022 and 2025 congresses will take place in Barcelona again, and Vienna will be the host city in 2023 and 2026 (after 2017 and 2020).
The venues will be the CCIB in Barcelona and the Austria Center Vienna in Vienna.
The two cities have been co-operating and coordinating their bid marketing for a couple of years now. They describe their strategy as ‘copetition’.
EANM attracts 6,300 participants to its annual congress and 2,000 scientific abstracts.
The congress now has almost 160 sessions and new elements include the Review Centre, where participants can view a presentation in case they missed it and ask directly questions to the presenters. Another successful novelty is the ‘Under 30’s session’, where outstanding papers submitted by young researchers and scientists have been presented in their own session within the framework of the European Congress.
Kristoff Muylle, president of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine, says: “We started our long-term cooperation with Barcelona and Vienna with the congresses 2016 and 2017 and the overall positive impact for us as an association but also for our participants made it easy for the board to confirm the co-operation until 2026 with both cities.”
