Business Events Adelaide has announced the appointment of two new in-market international contractors to grow the South Australia capital’s global reach.
Frances Iacono has joined the team as associate director of partnerships, North America, located in New York City, while London-based Amanda Pelvay will step into the role of associate director of partnerships, UK and Europe.
The appointments complement existing resources in Australia and Asia, enabling the organisation to establish and build in-person relationships across four continents.
Business Events Adelaide CEO Damien Kitto said: “We are really pleased to welcome Fran and Amanda to the Business Events Adelaide team. As we press forward with our ambitions to position Adelaide as a tier two destination of choice, it is crucial to have representatives present in our target markets. These additional resources will ensure we can be proactive in attracting prominent business events and corporate incentive groups from North America and Europe.”
Both Iacono and Pelvay originally hail from South Australia. “It gives them, and us, a great advantage,” Kitto added. “The combination of Fran and Amanda’s high-calibre industry expertise and their innate local knowledge about our city and its venues, industry strengths and experiences is a significant asset to advancing our international operations.”
The appointments also follow Business Events Adelaide entering into a partnership agreement with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). This partnership, one of only 12 globally, gives Business Events Adelaide exclusive access to a network of association leads, market intelligence and a stronger platform from which to bid for and win high-value international events.
“A partnership with ICCA gives us a seat at the table with the organisations that decide where the world’s major congresses go next,” said Kitto.
Adelaide was recently named one of the world’s top three emerging international business travel destinations by American Express.
