On the new choice in venue, BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins said: “Tākina’s opening in June 2023 is perfect timing for New Zealand business events to showcase in a new destination.” “MEETINGS 2022 at Te Pae Christchurch last month set a record with over 210 stands and 400 buyers, including 110 from Australia. So, we’ll be bringing New Zealand, Australian and international business event professionals together in Wellington for MEETINGS 2023.” David Perks, Wellington City Council general manager – Tākina, commercial development, added: “The investment Wellington has made into Tākina reflects the commitment the city has to both being a visitor destination and, as New Zealand’s capital city, being the place important conversations are had.” MEETINGS 2026 will be amongst the over 70 bookings that the Tākina Wellington Conference and Exhibition Centre have already confirmed, which will take place during the first 12 months of their mid-2023 opening.
