Destination South Australia (DSA), the State’s biggest annual business events showcase organised by Business Events Adelaide, got underway 19 March, with 50 highly qualified business event decision-makers and media joining a fully hosted programme designed to demonstrate the very best of South Australian ingenuity and hospitality. Guests will visit business event venues and hotels in the city, as well as joining a familiarisation tour of either the Barossa Valley or Adelaide Hills.

Thursday’s (20 March) trade show – which includes scheduled appointments with Business Event Adelaide member exhibitors – provides an opportunity for event organisers to meet local industry leaders.

In a first for the event, interstate guests will be joined by a delegation of Indian corporate incentive agents. They will enjoy a separate familiarisation and educational programme, with the two groups coming together for showpiece occasions at Adelaide Oval and Morphettville.

Business Events Adelaide CEO Damien Kitto says the Indian delegation adds another dimension to the ever-popular Destination SA. “The opportunity to host both groups concurrently means that we are able to provide more value to our members,” he said.

“DSA exhibitor spots sold out very quickly and we have responded by making this DSA our biggest yet. Having such a large and diverse group of guests this year means that more members will be engaged than ever before.”

DSA is the high point of Business Event Adelaide’s calendar, responsible for attracting more than A$40m of future business to SA, and Kitto says the team are ready to showcase the city and regions. “DSA is a great time to demonstrate the ‘Team Adelaide’ approach that we are renowned for,” he continued. “Our guests are about to see for themselves the experiential, cultural and economic advantages of choosing Adelaide for their future business events.”

Destination SA’s Showcase Exhibition will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 20 March from 9am.

Business Events Adelaide is an independent, not-for-profit, member-based organisation. Its purpose is to win business events for South Australia. The business event sector is worth more than A$2.5bn to SA.

Adelaide hotel booking levels have also shown a spike during the upcoming AFL Gather Round, according to CoStar’s latest Forward STAR data. Hotel occupancy on the books is tracking six percentage points higher than the 2024 event four weeks out.
