Business Events Adelaide has secured “The International Renewable Energy Conference (IREC) for Adelaide in 2024. The biennial business event typically attracts more than 3000 delegates, most of whom are international visitors. “IREC is a brilliant statement of what Adelaide is capable of – as a business events destination, and in innovation including hydrogen – in tune with the State’s economic development agenda,” said Business Events Adelaide chief executive Damien Kitto. Kitto said it was pleasing to have Australia’s Federal Climate and Energy minister the Hon Chris Bowen MP make the announcement following the bid process. “Prestigious business events such as this deliver a strong economic tail for delegates as well as, very importantly, Adelaide and the State of South Australia,” he said. “It will strengthen Adelaide’s position on the world map as a business event destination… that puts an economic growth future front and centre for their future events.” In the past few years Adelaide has seen development in a variety of sectors, including Biomed, AI, Space, AgTech, and Defence – which have attracted business events in those sectors. Kitto added: “Business Events Adelaide has a vital role to play in the economy’s future.”
