Australia’s leading event planner DG Global has announced the appointment of Melbourne tourism and event industry figure Beverley Williamson as general manager across the company’s Australasian business. Williamson joins DG Global after 17 years at the Melbourne Convention Bureau, where she was general manager of sales.

The change comes as founder and managing director Dave Green moves his focus to major events and special projects. He comments: “I am really excited to hand the reigns to Beverley to continue our growth here in Australia and internationally. She is a real leader in not only securing very competitive bids, but in delivering excellence for both domestic and international clients. Beverley will be an incredible asset to our business.

“Last year we led the industry in growth post-pandemic and expanded into Indonesia, establishing a strategy across the hotel conference and leisure event market led from Bali … Beverley will be a huge success as a leader in helping to upskill a new generation of locally-engaged event producers across Asia.”

Williamson described her excitement at joining DG Global: “I’m excited to lead the team at DG and work with Dave, particularly to deliver our Southeast Asian strategy building on the success of his reputation established in Singapore, with a win already for Singapore Event Experience of the year,” she said.

“With over 25 years of experience across Australia and the UK both in sales and operational roles … [securing] lucrative international business acquisitions, this role enables me to be both strategic and operational and work across a number of domestic and international markets.”

The conference tourism market into Australia as preferred MICE destination (meetings, incentives, conference events) is highly lucrative, with a major business event survey from Tourism Australia showing that Australia is the leading incentive destination across 22 categories, including business facilities, safety, security and value for money. Tourism Australia’s figures show that conference sector visitors spend $10.4bn across food services and accommodation in Australia each year.

DG Global hopes to contribute even more to this trend of MICE success with the appointment of its new general manager, Beverley Williamson.
