ESPGHAN 2023 celebrates 55th Annual Meeting in Vienna

The European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) celebrated its 55th Annual Meeting in Vienna with resounding success, 17-20 May. ESPGHAN is a society dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of paediatric digestive disorders. Through collaborative efforts and knowledge sharing, ESPGHAN strives to improve the lives of children with gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional diseases. ESPGHAN’s 2023 Annual Meeting attracted 4,315 participants from 104 countries. “Our annual meeting has grown really to be a multi-professional society and the key meeting for novelties and innovation. ESPGHAN is a special meeting, where it is easy to interact with younger colleagues and experienced professionals. We are all under the umbrella of ESPGHAN and everyone within the different fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition has many opportunities to learn,” said ESPGHAN president professor Ulrich Baumann. ESPGHAN 2023 showcased a programme featuring 12 specialised courses in Allied Health Professionals and there were 55 scientific sessions, 340 expert speakers and over 200 abstract presenters. Young professionals attending the Annual Meeting had the chance to participate in the Young ESPGHAN Day, dedicated to supporting their career advancement, personal development and network growth. Young ESPGHAN committee chair Andreia Nita said that many young trainees were impressed by the initiative and requested it to be organised every year. The event also received support from 18 leading companies in the field and 58 exhibitors who showcased their products and services. Additionally, all companies had the opportunity to join the first-ever ESPGHAN Product Theatre, providing them with an interactive, new platform to present their latest advancements in front of an international audience. ESPGHAN’s ‘Run with the Council’ saw attendees running to raise funds for the ‘Trees for All’ initiative, contributing to a greener future by planting more trees worldwide.
