The Government of the Czech Republic has been preparing for the EU Presidency in 2022 by holding a ‘Presidency trial run’ recently at the Prague Congress Centre (PCC). The event aimed to learn from the experience of the EU Presidency of Slovakia and Romania and gave the venue an opportunity present and test the audio-visual and communication technologies needed for staging key EU meetings. Representatives from the Government and the ministries visited the modernised premises of the PCC and the onsite hotel Holiday Inn Prague Congress Centre. “As it has been shown in the past, the PCC provides an ideal solution for all types of events taking place during the Presidency, thanks to the number of halls and lounges, their variability, parking capacities and the proximity of the hotel premises,” said the Sales and Marketing Director, Lenka Žlebková. With her experience in project management and technical support for the Presidency of Slovakia, Dr Katarína Chovancová passed on some valuable advice and explained the complexity of organising some of the events. During the ‘trial run’ event, YVENTECH, the exclusive Congress Rental Network partner in the Czech Republic, also unveiled the latest congress and interpreting technologies that are recommended and approved by the European Commission for Public and State Meetings, especially for the EU Council host countries. “We were able to demonstrate the preparedness for the Czech Presidency of the EU Council as a host country in 2022,” said Monika Fenyková, CEO of YVENTECH. Zátiší Catering presented guests with some of the trends in gastronomy and placed an accent on zero waste. Catering included table mapping and neon food. Guests were also able to see the urban herb garden located on the PCC terrace. Over 200 commercial partners attended the event, which gave a taster of how the venue can host a conference, gala evening, hockey game and networking. PCC is the largest congress centre in the Czech Republic, able to host up to 10,000 delegates across 20 halls and 50 salons. The PCC has been awarded the EKO Gold certificate for its use of renewable energy.
