The Galway Convention Bureau will honour ambassadors who have helped bring international conferences, meetings, business, cultural and sporting events to the city at the inaugural Galway Ambassador Recognition Awards, to take place at The Hardiman on 12 November.

The awards will recognise the vital contribution of Galway-based academics, researchers, clinicians, industry leaders and professional association members who use their international networks and influence to attract prestigious conferences and events to the region.

Business events generate significant economic and social benefits for Galway, showcasing the region’s expertise on a global stage and creating opportunities for collaboration and investment. These events also provide delegates with the opportunity to experience Galway’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant festival programme, encouraging extended stays and repeat visits.

Galway Convention Bureau is working on a strong pipeline of business events to be delivered between now and 2030, bringing an estimated 30,000 delegates to the region and generating €43.5m for the local economy.

The evening will be hosted by media personality Gemma Ní Chionnaith.

Niamh Stack, manager of Galway Convention Bureau, added: “These inaugural awards are an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the individuals who champion Galway internationally. Through their efforts, Galway continues to secure valuable business events that enhance our reputation, support jobs and strengthen our visitor economy. We are delighted to recognise their achievements and thank them for their ongoing support.”

The awards are hosted in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, Galway City Council, Galway County Council, and industry partners.
