The Finnish capital Helsinki is establishing new standards for sustainability and legacy-building in the events sector, with a new Helsinki Event Legacy Programme is tailored to benefit attendee experiences while leaving a lasting impact on the city. The programme encourages congress organisers to engage local students with public lectures, interactive workshops, and open days, fostering continuous learning by bridging academia and industry. The 10th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology, held in Helsinki, 29 June-2 July 2024, features the Brain Health Mission, which challenges young people to inspire their peers to prioritise brain health through the Brain Health School Challenge Project. The Congress will host over 8,000 neurologists. The Brain Health Mission – School Challenge Project, held in spring 2024, had pupils create posters, social media videos, and campaigns to inspire brain health awareness. Winning ideas were showcased at the congress. Helsinki also encourages delegates to engage in urban preservation activities. The city promotes a circular economy by donating leftover materials to workshops like Uusix and collaborates with the Baltic Sea Action Group to protect the Baltic Sea. Helsinki provides work opportunities for students with special needs and collaborates with the Finnish Red Cross.  More information on legacy opportunities can be found through the city CVB Helsinki Partners.
