Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. has signed a multiple-property framework agreement with Asset World Corporation (AWC), Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group. This agreement will see Hotel Okura operate a new hotel in Chiang Mai by 2028 and several other Okura Group luxury hotels across Thailand by 2030, adding over 500 rooms in the country. The property in Chiang Mai, a major event city destination, is set to open in 2028 and, together with other projects, will expand the Okura Group’s presence in Thailand to over 2,000 rooms by 2030. Additionally, Hotel Okura will provide hospitality services for cruises on the Chao Phraya River, starting this December. The first Okura-branded hotel in Chiang Mai will be part of AWC’s Lannatique project in the Chang Klan area. Its design will blend Lanna Dynasty tapestries from Chiang Mai’s past with modern Japanese art, integrating the art, history, and traditions of both cultures. Guests will enjoy services promoting well-being, including a spa, zen garden, and Japanese tea café. Hotel Okura aims to expand its global network to 150 locations by 2030, including 75 outside Japan. Since the opening of The Okura Prestige Bangkok in 2012, Hotel Okura has worked on several development projects in Thailand. Toshihiro Ogita, president of Hotel Okura, said: “Introducing the Okura brand to Chiang Mai, a world-renowned destination, will provide guests with unique experiences that combine Lanna and Japanese cultures. We are also excited about the ‘Okura Cruise’ along the Chao Phraya River, which will combine Japanese hospitality with the rich scenery of this historic river. We are committed to delivering top-quality accommodation and cruise services in Thailand and strengthening AWC’s leadership in the Thai lifestyle real estate market.”
