Business Events Perth has announced that the Australian Hydrogen Conference (West) is set to take place in Perth for a two-day event in November 2022. The conference is expected to see 440 delegates visit the Western Australian (WA) city and generate upwards of AUS$560,000 (US$400,000). The event brings together the hydrogen sector’s energy leaders to explore the latest emerging projects, challenges, and opportunities to shape the future of this expanding industry. Alannah MacTiernan, minister for the hydrogen industry, commented on the legacy of such conferences: “Since the State Government’s Renewable Hydrogen Conference in 2018, a local renewable hydrogen industry is turning from vision to reality here in WA.” Gareth Martin, CEO of Business Events Perth, added: “WA’s energy industry is moving towards more renewable energy sources, and as a result we’re making big strides in the field of hydrogen; in 2019, the WA Government launched the Renewable Hydrogen Strategy, which sets out the State’s approach to becoming a significant producer, exporter and user of renewable hydrogen energy.” The event is run by global organiser Informa. It will next be hosted in Adelaide. Roger Cook, deputy premier and minister for tourism, said: “WA’s tourism industry is of key importance to the WA State Government, and we are actively supporting the ongoing recovery of the sector through our $185m Reconnect WA funding package, which included $15m to attract lucrative business events to WA such as the Australian Hydrogen Conference (West).”
