The International Association of Congress Organisers (IAPCO) has announced that it will take its EDGE Seminar to The Hague in January 2019.

It will be the fourth EDGE Seminar organised in Europe, but the first to be held in The Hague. The two-day event will take place at the Hilton Hotel and will aim to educate participants about professional congress organisation.

The bid win is a great success for The Hague Convention Bureau as well as its city partner – Congress by design – a local PCO active within IAPCO.

The director of The Hague Convention Bureau, Ms Nienke van der Malen – van der Horst explained: “Education and knowledge-sharing are essential in our industry and they are also intrinsic to the ambition of The Hague. Numerous international education institutions, as well as the Dutch ministry of education and cultural affairs, are located here. Hosting an event such as the EDGE Seminar is a great opportunity for our city.”

IAPCO has over 120 members in the meeting industry worldwide.

“We are delighted that EDGE 2019 will be hosted in The Hague. It is heartening to see the initiatives being taken by our members and the convention bureau to promote the debate about best practice, as well as to provide training programmes for young professionals,” said Sarah Storie-Pugh, executive director of IAPCO.

Each year three educational EDGE Seminars are organised in different regions worldwide.

Known as the International City of Peace and Justice, The Hague also leads in other areas of knowledge, such as Cybersecurity, Legal & Finance, as well as IT & Telecom.
