ICC Sydney boosts ties with local wine producers at New South Wales show

Local wines take centre stage. ICC Sydney purchased over 24,000 bottles from Orange region producers last year. The venue champions New South Wales' wine diversity through its NSW First procurement philosophy. One quarter of its entirely local wine list features Orange wines.

The International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has stepped up its relationship with local wine producers, returning to the Orange Wine Show – a wine trade show for Orange, New South Wales, Australia.

Adam Mather-Brown, ICC Sydney general manager, said the centre is committed to investing in local wine producers: “Our ICC Sydney team is resolute in championing the quality and diversity of wine from the region, having purchased more than 24,000 bottles of premium Orange wine last financial year – elevating our total procurement to more than 150,000 bottles from Orange since opening.

“We are proud to offer event attendees the opportunity to taste the very best of local produce through our NSW First procurement philosophy. One quarter of our 100% local wine list originates from Orange.”

Nick Segger, president of the Orange Region Vignerons Association (ORVA) and Nashdale Lane Wines owner, gave thanks to ICC Sydney for its support: “The resilience of Orange wine growers to overcome environmental and operating challenges is rewarded in spades as we proudly produce premium drops that can be enjoyed by millions of visitors to ICC Sydney every year.

“ICC Sydney’s ongoing support not only directly contributes to the economic prosperity of regions like Orange but allows us to showcase our world class wines to new global and national audiences.”

ICC Sydney food and beverage manager and sommelier William Wilson met with existing and prospective partners at the Orange show. He gave his thoughts: “I know that the region’s wines, from outstanding sparkling wines, famous cool climate Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, to a huge variety of emerging and alternative varieties, will be extremely well received.”

ICC Sydney sponsored the Best Exhibitor of Show accolade at the Orange Wine Awards for the seventh consecutive year. The category was won by Tamburlaine Organic Wines, one of the venue’s many local wine suppliers.
