International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, has been participating in a number of key wine industry events, including the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards, as part of its drive to promote NSW wine makers through its international network. ICC Sydney’s partnership with the NSW Wine Industry Association, now in its fifth year, builds on the venue’s support for the state’s wine industry as part of its commitment to showcase NSW wine to millions of event attendees that walk through its doors each year. The venue hosted the 2023 ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards Luncheon, 10 November, which saw the best winemakers from across NSW awarded trophies for their exceptional wines. ICC Sydney CEO and ASM Global (APAC) group director – Convention Centres Geoff Donaghy said his team was proud to support the NSW Wine Awards and the industry’s emerging and established winemakers and labels. “The diversity and quality of NSW produce remains some of the best in world. In line with our Feeding Your Performance food and beverage philosophy, we are committed to contributing to the performance of our State by featuring 100% NSW wine on our wine lists at ICC Sydney,” Donaghy said. The NSW Wine Awards Luncheon hosted more than 100 wine makers, industry guests and Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW. The awards attracted 850 entries from across all of the State’s 16 wine regions. Sixty five wines won gold medals during the judging, with 20 trophies awarded at the luncheon. President of NSW Wine Industry Association, Mark Bourne paid tribute to ICC Sydney’s support for home state wines. “Not only does the venue team support our industry all year round with a commitment to a 100% NSW wine list, but with their world class venue and passionate people ensure our judging process and the awards luncheon are presented to the highest standard,” Bourne said. William Wilson, Food and Beverage Manager and Sommelier said the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards provided an opportunity for members of the ICC Sydney team and its clients to discover award winning premium products. “Our wine regions have had some challenging vintages recently and it is heartening to see so many great wines and great winemakers shining through. While we always see many of our winery partners collecting trophies, the NSW Wine Awards is a great way for new producers to showcase their wines. This event deepens our knowledge of what is available and how we can continue to champion the extraordinary wine of NSW to our event organiser clients and event patrons,” Wilson said. Since opening its doors ICC Sydney has sold more than two million glasses of wine from New South Wales. To view ICC Sydney’s 100% Local documentary series, visit: Winemakers | ICC Sydney.
