ICE community expands to Germany

The UK-based International Corporate Event community (ICE), creators of the ICEAWARDS, ICEDAY, ICETALK and ICEONLINE resources for the in-house corporate event organising community, has announced the brand’s expansion into the German events market.

“Many of our attendees to the ICEAWARDS and ICEDAY come from around the world, and a few of our community members in Germany got in touch as they felt it wasn’t an event they had replicated in their country,” commented Anita Howard, CEO and founder, ICE.

The expansion will kick off on 9 December 2021, in partnership with the German corporate event market and follows the creation of an ICEGERMANY steering group, including representatives from Siemens, SAP, T-Systems International, Bayer, BBC, Deutsche Bank and Roche; as well as others who, together with partners DRPG and the German Convention Bureau, will drive the organisation across the country’s events community.

“Together we want to replicate the business model of having a community and a series of events specifically created for corporate event organisers, but also with the fun and personality we try and inject into proceedings,” Howard added.

Dale Parmenter, group CEO at DRPG, one of the key sponsors of the initiative, commented, “Germany has such an impressive events market place, so for us this is as much about learning from some great event thinkers as it is about exporting ICE to a new market. We’re looking forward to being a part of it.”

Due to restrictions around Covid-19, the inaugural ICEGERMANY event will not emulate the original ICE initiatives in the UK. However, the group will create a multi-venue hybrid event with the ICEDAY conference being held in Munich (as the main hub), Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg. The combined live and virtual conference will include keynote speakers and industry experts sharing their experiences and future gazing the corporate event sector. Plus, a selection of previous ICEAWARD winners presenting case studies of their events.

The awards ceremony will expand on the 2020 London event with a combination of a live socially distanced dinner and party and a virtual audience sharing the night through their ICEPACK ‘celebration in a box’, Zoom tables, cocktails, competitions and interactive games.
