The Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) recently hosted its first fully in-person event following the Covid-19 pandemic. The Grand Lodge 2020 meeting of the Grand Orient of Italy was held 11-13 September at IEG’s Palacongressi di Rimini, and drew 1,500 attendees. Held in the Sala della Piazza, the event was able to be hosted in a Covid-secure way with reportedly “no significant changes to the usual format”. The event included a programme of conference, exhibitions and book presentations, in addition to networking lunches and dinners. Director of the IEG’s Event and Conference division, Fabio De Santis, said: “The synergy between our structure and the GOI in applying all the association rules and institutional protocols on Covid-19, was fundamental and guaranteed an event in total safety, demonstrating with facts and figures that conferences and events can be held in the presence of more than a thousand people, without mass gatherings.”
