The programme for the first ever Global Event Summit, which will see senior corporate event buyers and agency heads from North America and Europe head to Scotland in April 2016, is to include a gala dinner aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. The summit, a partnership between The International Special Events Society (ISES), VisitScotland Business Events and the IMEX Group will see the buyers group from North America first attend IMEX in Frankfurt before heading on to Scotland for a G20-style conference. Gleneagles Resort will host the first meeting on 21 April before the group heads to Glasgow for a private tour of the SSE Hydro on 22 April. A series of debates will follow at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) before the closing gala dinner. Head of Business Events at VisitScotland, Neil Brownlee, said: “The Global Event Summit perfectly matches our desire for Scotland to be at the very heart of the global event industry. We are delighted to be hosting this significant event during the Year of Innovation, Architecture & Design in 2016.” ISES, meanwhile, has renewed its tradeshow partnership with Catersource and Event Solutions. The two organisations have agreed to work together on a number of cross promotional initiatives over the next 12 months, with ISES providing a dedicated education programme at the 2016 Catersource & Event Solutions Conference & Tradeshow in Las Vegas, 13–16, March 2016. Jodi Collen CSEP, ISES international president, says: “We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with the Catersource and Event Solutions team since forming our partnership earlier this year. We share the same values and objectives in helping to provide the very best education for the events industry and are delighted that our collaboration will extend into 2016, benefiting both our two organisations and our industry.” The partnership was the first to be announced as part of the growing ISES ‘Global Partner Program’, which was launched in 2014 designed to enable organisations to leverage commercial partnerships with the international event association and to gain access to its membership and their combined US$22bn of global event spend.
