The Polish city of Łódź recently welcomed thousands of visitors who came to celebrate the city’s 600 years of history. Manufaktura, Piotrkowska Street, and other city centre attractions and unique venues were bustling with life during the birthday weekend, 28-30 July, 2023. Some venues reportedly had all their rooms booked a month before the event and the tourism authorities report around 20,000 person-nights were provided in the city’s over the weekend. “As hoteliers, we would dream that the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Łódź would last every weekend until the end of the year, and even longer,” said Dominik Chrapek, general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Łódź. The Łódź Summer Festival, a key part of the celebrations, included five stages located around the city centre. The city has also lined up more flagship events to take place under the broader Łódź birthday programme of celebrations, including the Freedom Parade with 17 music platforms on 26 August and the Light.Move.Festival, 19 September–1 October. The Łodź convention bureau, which is a member of ICCA, was established in 2017, as a division under the Łódź Tourist Organisation, and has been collaborating with event organisers on major events including Routes Europe 2023, the 35th AESOP Congress 2023, CEDE Łódź: the Central European Dental Exhibition 2023. For over a decade now, the city has been experiencing rapid development. New hotels are being opened and entire blocks of the historical centre have been renovated. The CVB notes a wide selection of high-class conference facilities are now available, including, historical and post-industrial buildings. The city is situated approximately in the middle of Poland, about 120 kilometres southwest of the capital city, Warsaw. For additional information, visit: https://lodz.travel/en/convention
