Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) has received confirmed backing from Tourism Australia for its 2019 MEA Mentor Programme. The programme has also announced a record number of participants.
Penny Lion, Executive General Manager Events for Tourism Australia said: “This is the third year Tourism Australia has partnered with MEA on its Mentor Programme and I am pleased to hear that it has received such a strong response. I see the programme as being an opportunity for the industry to cultivate robust relationships as well as nurture young talent to ensure Australia’s events industry remains competitive on the world stage.”
MEA’s Chief Executive Office Robyn Johnson added: “MEA has 62 mentors and mentees taking part in this year’s programme, which signifies a 10% increase on last year.
“We are delighted with this growth as we know from the testimonials received at the end of the last two programmes that it is a valuable resource to grow leadership skills in our industry.
“We are extremely pleased that Tourism Australia has confirmed it will continue to support the programme again in 2019. They have worked with MEA to add value to the content as we continue to fine-tune and improve the programme.”
And planning is underway for the 2020 programme due to commence on 1 July 2020 subject to feedback from this year’s participants.
