The city of Munich and the Munich Trade Fair have won their bid to host the Congress of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) in 2026. The Congress will run 17-21 April at Messe München and organisers expect to attract around 18,000 international participants. Munich is a science metropolis with 17 universities, including two elite universities, and is an important healthcare location with two university hospitals and a total of 60 clinics. “We are very pleased that this important medical congress is taking place at the trade fair,” said Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München. “The Covid-19 pandemic has made it clear how essential new insights are in the field of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases.” ESCMID Global (formerly ECCMID) is an annual congress that brings together experts and specialists in the fields of clinical and infectious diseases.
