New facilities director for Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Jones takes the helm at BCEC. He leads a 40-strong team. The new facilities director brings extensive experience from hospitality and commercial sectors across Australia and Asia. He replaces Ian Chalmers, who served 27 years at the venue.

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has announced the appointment of a new facilities director for the ASM Global managed venue as it marks 30 year anniversary of operation and showcasing Brisbane on the world stage.

In his new role, Cliff Jones (pictured) joins the Centre’s Executive Leadership team, taking on responsibility for the Centre’s Building Services, Facilities Management and Security and Safety, as well as Sustainability and Community Engagement, overseeing a team of more than 40 staff. Jones brings vast experience in large commercial organisations and hospitality sectors across Australia and Asia.

He replaces Ian Chalmers who has transitioned into a new role as he approaches retirement, following an extraordinary career with ASM Global including 27 years at BCEC and three years at Suncorp Stadium.

BCEC general manager, Kym Guesdon thanked Ian and his team for their work at the venue and welcomed Jones to the Centre, sayiing she was confident he would be a valuable addition to the team with his depth of knowledge and high levels of achievement over many years.

Jones described himself as a hands-on, people-focused manager and says he has already begun meeting with department heads and members of his team.
