Karine Serra (pictured) has joined the Hamburg Convention Bureau’s conventions unit as marketing manager. A graduate event manager with a focus on business tourism, Serra takes the role vacated by Nele Aumann, who now heads the Conventions unit.
Serra will focus on the city’s core economic clusters of medicine, healthcare and life sciences, with a view to attracting international conventions from these sectors.
A native of France, Serra has many years’ experience in planning and implementing international events, with previous roles at Hamburg Messe, as well as senior project manager in destination management with MR Congress & Incentive, where she was responsible for the French market.
“This role is a really unique opportunity to contribute to expanding the profile of Hamburg on the international stage,” she says. “I may not be a Hamburg-native, but I’m one of the city’s biggest fans and it’s going to be a real pleasure to develop new ideas for marketing the destination.”
