Morocco this week approved an allocation of MAD14bn ($1.43bn) for the construction of a convention and exhibition centre in the west-coast city Agadir, reports Morocco World News. Souss Massa’s Regional Investment Center (CRI) director, Khalil Nazih, said that the investment of CRI recorded an 8% increase during the first half of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015. Nazih was reported as saying that investments in the tourism sector account for 50% of the increase. Nazih said: “This dynamic is the result of the will of many of actors and investor and also thanks to the strong involvement of Moroccans living abroad, who were the initiators of the opening and the launch of several building sites and local initiatives that added a value and created employment opportunities.” The Aqua Park and Agadir Land projects are expected to create nearly $48m of investment opportunities, creating approximately 750 new jobs.
