Philadelphia is to host six FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, including a match on 4 July, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the United States. Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, joined other Philadelphia hospitality leaders at a press conference in response to the announcement and said: “The unveiling of the FIFA World Cup match schedule marks a pivotal moment for our city and its hospitality community as we prepare to welcome the world in 2026. “With each of the six matches having the impact of a standalone mega-event, we anticipate a surge in economic activity across the region. This influx of visitors will fill our hotels and boost local business as fans from around the globe follow the excitement of each match. We are ready to leverage our expertise in hosting major events to ensure a successful World Cup experience in Philadelphia.” The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be hosted in 16 cities across the US, Canada and Mexico.
