Prague will welcome 350 international meeting industry professionals, 26-30 September 2016, for M&I Forum Europe. The four-day event will be hosted by the Prague Convention Bureau (PCB) in partnership with local DMCs. The forum’s buyers will be fully hosted and will take part in a total of 4,000 meetings with event suppliers from across Europe and beyond. “Prague hosted an M&I Forum back in 2009 and this is the perfect time for the event to return,” said Lenka Jarošova, executive director of the PCB. Prague retains a rich culture and history but is, perhaps, less well known for its modern event spaces and new hotels. “We’re excited to show Prague in a new light. Our wonderful city is perfectly suited to both big events and smaller incentive groups, and I am sure the experience will open up new business opportunities and give attendees total confidence in the destination,” Jarošova added. The M&I Forums are trade events for destinations to showcase their offerings and, in 2016, Prague will join Dubai (UAE), Scottsdale, AZ (USA), Madrid (Spain), and Izmir (Turkey) in hosting one of the forums. Richard Barnes, MD of M&I Forums, added: “Prague has invested a vast amount in its meetings infrastructure in recent years, and there’s a new side to the Czech capital that’s waiting to be explored. It’s home to an array of new, groundbreaking hotels and venues which we’re excited to introduce our delegates to, opening their eyes to the opportunities this city has to offer in 2016.” The city has been undergoing some substantial changes. The accommodation offering, especially four- and five-star hotels, has increased considerably, and transport system has been modernised and extended. Prague is up to 10th position, also, in the latest ICCA Country rankings. In the second quarter statistics released by PCB, Prague hosted 18 association conferences, 214 corporate meetings and 13 incentive events, 93 events were classified as ‘other business meetings’ and there were three major consumer shows. Prague’s many international technology and science institutions now attract experts and scholars from all over the world and the PCB has developed its services significantly, including an extensive programme of incentive support granted by the city and an Ambassador Programme for association events.
