Visit Rapid City has announced 2024’s ‘Amazing Rush’ site visit, which is set for 12 August 2024, in and around Rapid City, South Dakota. Inspired by the game show “The Amazing Race,” the Amazing Rush gives meeting professionals two days of experiences in the destination. The event is a coordinated effort to immerse planners in the attractions and experiences of Rapid City. The event is now in its eighth year, referred to as Season 8. “Each year, we strive to exceed everyone’s expectations by introducing meeting planners to a variety of exciting and offbeat activities,” says Tyson Steiger, director of sales for Visit Rapid City. “From spelunking through caves and getting around on thrilling ATV and helicopter rides to creating spray-paint masterpieces in Art Alley, kayaking, fly-fishing and more, we have unique adventures that allow planning professionals to play before they book. And this year, planners have even more to look forward to — hot air balloon rides over our beautiful destination.” Since its inception, the series of site visits has caused:

  • 59 new accounts to be created, bolstering new connections and partnerships.
  • 71 sales leads have been dispersed to encourage meeting planners to consider Rapid City for their next event.
  • 16 accounts have already booked business in Rapid City, showing the lasting impression the Amazing Rush has on participants.
  • The total economic impact stands at $10,299,335, highlighting the success of this creative business-to-business marketing initiative.

“As we get ready for the Amazing Rush, Visit Rapid City can’t wait for meeting planners to enjoy a first-hand experience in the Black Hills that will stay with them,” adds Steiger. “Our best advice to prepare for this season: get ready to discover the possibilities for your future meetings and events in our corner of South Dakota.”
