The Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center officially opened earlier this year in 2025 following a comprehensive $40m renovation. Those unfamiliar with the Marriott Sheraton portfolio might assume that the building was a convention centre – in fact, it’s a hotel.

The property is attached to the Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center in Minnesota. It has now completed a six-month transformation and reopened as part of Marriott’s Sheraton Hotels & Resorts portfolio.

The hotel spans 14 storeys and is located at 1313 Nicollet Mall – in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. It occupies the historic site of the former Capp Towers Motor Hotel and has served as a Twin Cities fixture for over six decades. The property is located steps from the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The renovation has modernised all 321 guest rooms and suites with contemporary elegance, featuring powered height-adjustable tables, ergonomic seating, and “Sheraton Sleep Experience” platform beds. Each room includes flat-screen TVs in-room mini fridges and clothing steamers.

The hotel’s own meeting and event capabilities have also been expanded. Now, the Sheraton venue offers 23,500sqft of flexible event space accommodating groups from small team trainings to large conventions.

A centrepiece of the transformation is the debut of Esther’s Table, named after Esther Capp, matriarch of the founding family. Led by executive chef Keven Kvalsten, the restaurant showcases seasonally-driven Midwest cuisine.

Additional amenities include a redesigned lobby, soundproofed meeting booths, hi-tech studios for small groups, a refreshed indoor pool and a fitness centre. The property also offers on-site parking and maintains skyway connections to the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center joins Marriott Bonvoy’s rewards programme, providing guests with enhanced benefits and earning opportunities in one of the world’s largest hotel loyalty programmes.
