Sydney powers ahead with lithium batteries international meeting

ICMS Australasia has been managing the 21st International Meeting on Lithium Batteries (IMLB 2022), 27 June-1 July, at the ICC Sydney, Australia with more than 1,000 people in attendance. Scientists and energy researchers are meeting their global counterparts to discuss the challenges and opportunities in how Li-ion technology can help mitigate climate change and build a fossil fuel-free economy. IMLB 2022 is being hosted by Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, with the meeting also providing an opportunity to highlight Australia’s resource strength in minerals used in lithium battery technologies. Delegates are hearing keynote presentations from dozens of global scientists, researchers and academics over the five-day programme, including from special advisor to the Australian Government on low emissions technology and from former chief scientist, professor Alan Finkel. The full week of scientific sessions will precede a gala dinner at Luna Park. Emma Bowyer, owner and managing director of ICMS Australasia, said: “It is particularly pleasing to see that while this is a hybrid meeting over two-thirds of delegates have chosen to attend IMLB 2022 in-person.” IMLB 2022 is also being supported by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Australian Battery Society, New South Wales Government and Business Events Sydney (BESydney).
