The Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) returns to Spain from 10-12 November and will be highlighting the role of tourism as a lever of economic wealth and employment worldwide. Organisers are expecting 6,000 participants from 60 countries to attend both on and offline, including representatives of travel leaders Ryanair, Accor, Vueling, LATAM Airlines, Hilton, Expedia, PATA and WTTC. The first edition of TIS in November 2020 brought together 1,200 industry representatives and leaders from 16 countries in person in Seville, along with the virtual attendance of more than 3,800 people from 56 countries. The international presence at TIS2021 is expected to generate a €20m spend across the city of Seville. According to the latest edition of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, between January and July 2021 an estimated 54 million tourists crossed international borders in 2021, down 67% from the same period in 2019, but better tan the estimated 34 million international arrivals recorded in July 2020. TIS2021 will provide an international forum for global industry leaders to discuss what actions and strategies to take to regain the 2019 levels of tourism activity, and to reshape the industry to be more sustainable. Four hundred speakers will contribute to the knowledge sharing and innovation agenda. TIS2021 will address five strategic axes: Reactivation, Recovery of traveller confidence, Digitisation, and Sustainability and inclusive tourism. TIS2021 will also celebrate the Tourism Innovation Awards 2021 on 11 November. In addition, more than 150 exhibitors will present their solutions to the leaders of the tourism sector.
