The Japanese city of Yokohama has won its bid to host the 12th Asia Pacific General Galvanising Conference (APGGC) in 2022. The APGGC will be held in Yokohama 29 May-2 June 2022 and is expected to attract 350 participants from around the world. It will be the second time for Japan to host the conference, the last time being in 1994. The conference will be held under the concept of ‘For a Sustainable Future: Think Zinc!’ and the event will feature presentations about world-class technology and products. Delegates will include corrosion specialists, steel producers and fabricators. Japan’s successful bid was led Japan Galvanisers Association, Inc., which believes the key to its bid win was its highlighting of the country’s traditions and high standards, the association’s passion and vision, and the convenient access by public transport of the host city, Yokohama. The Asia Pacific General Galvanising Association members voted unanimously to take the conference to Japan and is counting on support of the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau and Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama (PACIFICO Yokohama) in assisting the Japan Galvanisers Association in hosting the conference in Japan. Organisers estimate that 250 of the 350 anticipated delegates will come from outside Japan, representing a total of 25 countries and regions.
