Hopin, an events management platform, has announced, 26 August, that Wei Gao has been appointed as the company’s first COO. Previously, Wei Gao was worldwide vice-president of product, technology and supply chain for Amazon Grocery and technical advisor to Jeff Bezos. At Hopin, Wei Gao will lead operations and oversee the rapid growth and innovation of Hopin’s shared experiences platform. With the appointment of Wei Gao as COO, Hopin’s executive team is now made up 50% of women and the company has said it is dedicated to creating a company that reflects its global, diverse community of employees and customers. Since the beginning of 2020, Hopin has scaled from six to more than 800+ employees in 47 countries and grown from a few hundred event creators using its platform to more than 100,000 organisations. This year, Hopin earned the position of number 79 on the 2021 Fast Company Best Workplaces for Innovators list and number 21 on Forbes’ Cloud 100 list.
