Over the past year Hyderabad has reported an influx of international players who have made the ‘City of Pearls’ their destination choice for investment. US-based firms Shure, Micron Technology, F5 Networks, MathWorks, Clean Harbors and Conduent are among those who have set up their first offices in the city over the past 12 months, with Legato Health Technologies, Thryve Digital, Bombadier and China-based software Thunder Software Tech also choosing to set up bases in the IT sector in Hyderabad. The year proved to be a phenomenal year for the Life Sciences sector in the state of Telangana. The state contributes over a third (35%) of India’s national pharmaceutical production. The development of Genome Valley, Pharma City, Medical Devices Park have made Hyderabad a unique destination providing a complete ecosystem for all Pharmaceutical and Life Science-based companies. The Medical Devices Park is spread over 250 acres in the city and is home to 16 companies. An MoU has been signed with China Medical City located at Taizhou for knowledge/technology sharing purposes. Hyderabad CVB says two recent hot conference leads obtained at Asia’s IT&CMA tradeshow, are set to buttress the city’s claim to be the Convention Capital of India. HCVB has also announced that Hyderabad has won the bid to host the World Design Assembly (by the World Design Organisation) in 2019 in collaboration with the India Design Forum (IDF) and the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana. WDO’s 31st Assembly will be held in tandem with a five-day local design event, which will include exhibitions and workshops that demonstrate the power of design to improve the quality of lives.
