Corporate Traveller, Flight Centre Travel Group’s SME travel specialist, has welcomed Fiji Airways’ announcement of direct flights between Nadi and Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport from 19 March 2027, calling it a positive step for both leisure and business travel into the Pacific.
The new service will operate three times a week, adding more than 53,000 seats annually and marking the first direct connection between Fiji and Sydney’s newest airport.
Fiji Airways has pointed to Australia as its largest source market, with the new route designed to strengthen trade and business travel connectivity between the two countries, alongside its tourism benefits.
Tom Walley, global managing director at Corporate Traveller, said the route gives travellers more choice and opens fresh opportunities to combine business with leisure.
“This is a welcome addition to the Pacific network. It’s a meaningful step for stronger business and trade ties between our two countries, and we expect local businesses to benefit,” said Walley.
“Plus, a service like this makes it that much easier to turn a work trip into a bleisure escape.”
It also removes a real barrier for travellers based in Western Sydney, who will no longer need to cross the city to reach the CBD airport for Pacific flights.
Walley added that the route also strengthens Fiji’s position as a viable transit hub for longer-haul travel, connecting into Fiji Airways’ broader network across the Pacific and North America.
