B2B investment and events platform builder, Opus Origin has announced the appointment of Desiree Hanson as president, North America.
Hanson brings more than two decades of experience across events, market intelligence and commercial strategy and will work alongside chairman, North America, Greg Topalian; CEO, Sam Jennings, and the Opus Origin leadership team.
“I’ve always been most energised by the question of what a market needs next,” said Hanson. “The event itself can be incredibly powerful, but it is only one part of the relationship you have with a customer. The bigger opportunity is truly listening to your customer and understanding that community deeply enough to build the content, connections, intelligence and products that create value all year long.”
Hanson joins Opus Origin following nearly nine years at Clarion Events North America, where she held senior leadership roles. Most recently, as president of North American Energy, she led a significant portfolio including DISTRIBUTECH, POWERGEN International, Factor This and Infocast.
Earlier in her career, Hanson held leadership roles at Reed Exhibitions and The NPD Group.
“Desiree is truly one of the most influential leaders I’ve ever worked with,” said Topalian. “I’ve seen firsthand how she builds teams, challenges conventional thinking, and turns complexity into growth. As we expand Opus Origin in North America, that mentality is exactly what we need,” he added.
As part of her remit, Hanson will also play a significant leadership role with Life Science Intelligence (LSI), helping shape its continued evolution across events, proprietary intelligence and year-round media.
“North America is full of extraordinary entrepreneurs who have built trusted brands and communities, and in many cases they are only scratching the surface of what those businesses can become,” said Sam Jennings, CEO, Opus Origin. “Adding Desiree to the team gives us another passionate builder who understands how to turn customer insight into commercial opportunity and opportunity into scale. We’re building a North American leadership team that can do more than identify great businesses. We can roll up our sleeves and help build what comes next.”
