The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), a 33,659sqm exhibition and convention facility, announced, 12 August, it is the ‘venue of choice’ to host the three-day IAPCO EDGE Seminar virtually from 25-27 August 2021. The event is co-organised by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Centre, with support from the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO). The IAPCO EDGE Seminar is intended to be a platform for Malaysian business events professionals to enhance their skill set and elevate the overall knowledge and expertise of Malaysia’s supply chain to match the industry’s international requirements and demands. Alan Pryor, the Centre’s general manager, said: “Though business events sustained a huge hit due to the pandemic it has also provided the time for everyone to take a step back and not only plan for the future, but focus on upskilling, learning and development to ensure we are ready for a bigger and better comeback.” Martin Boyle, CEO of IAPCO, commented: “The MyCEB/KLCC partnership with IAPCO was designed specifically for and with Malaysian meeting professionals in mind. It is a truly unique collaborative initiative applying a multi-level approach to understanding the needs in the marketplace and designing a long-term programme that builds upon existing knowledge and skillsets whilst developing enhanced learning and new skills all of which will provide Malaysia with a competitive advantage moving forward.” The IAPCO EDGE Seminar is intended to provide industry insights for business event players, including professional conference organisers, meeting planners, associations, venues and others. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani, CEO of MyCEB, added: “Ultimately, we hope to create a marketplace of professionals with the right skills to increase bid wins and support the growth of Malaysia’s business events industry, which contributes in many ways, both economically and in the knowledge and expertise that are gained by the country through the successful hosting of these events.” The IAPCO EDGE Seminar initiative follows the IAPCO Continued Professional Development programme, as part of Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) in August 2020 and the launch of the online education platform, IAPCO WebEDGE in May 2020.
